We offer access professional courses, academic courses, distance learning courses and corporate consultancy training. Almost all the courses below are linked directly to UK university degree programmes, so that students completing these courses may continue their studies at a UK university. In some cases, they complete their honours degree top-up course in 1 year.
The following courses are on offer:-
Preparatory Courses - (GCSE O/Level Standard) – Starts Sep 2010
This is an intensive course that is suitable for you if you want get a qualification that is equivalent to G.C.S.E. ‘O’ Level standard. This rigorous 1 year course prepares you to be able to embark on ‘A’ Level studies.
Certificate in Preparatory Studies
Duration: 1 year
Entry Requirements
No qualifications are required, but you should be at least 16 years old and able to demonstrate that you can study at ‘O’ Level standard. You must also demonstrate good standard of spoken and written English.
Course Assessment
This course is assessed by means of direct examination and essay-based assignments
Access Courses - (GCSE A/Level Standard) – Start Sept 2010
Duration: 1 year
These are intensive and rigorous courses that are ideal for you if you have successfully completed secondary school education, and you want to study for a 3 year honours degree course at a UK university. Thus, if you complete this course, you can be admitted onto a 3 year degree course at a university or college in the United Kingdom. These courses below will give you access to a UK business/management/finance or law related honours degree courses respectively:-
- Certificate in Access to Higher Education in Business and Management
- Certificate in Access to Higher Education in Law and Legal Reasoning
Entry Requirements
You must meet one of the requirements below:-
- Have successfully completed G.C.S.E. ‘O’ Level qualification or its equivalent with at least 5 credits passes or more (including mathematics and English language); or
- Have successfully completed G.C.S.E. ‘O’ Level qualification or its equivalent without all the 5 credit passes required, but have at least 3 years work experience in a related industry and be aged 19 years or over. Concrete evidence of related work experience is required. (Admission here is at the absolute discretion of BEN); or
- Have completed G.C.S.E. ‘O’ Level equivalent Preparatory Studies course; or
- You do not meet the entry requirements above, but you are aged 21 years or over. Admission here will be on case by case basis.

- Meeting the English language requirements below.
English Language Requirements
To be considered for admission, you must show competence in spoken and written English, in addition to meeting the entry requirements above. Applicants should have credit pass in English Language. The minimum English Language requirement is GCSC O/Level at Grade “C” pass or equivalent international English Language examinations, such as IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL (paper based) 550 or TOEFL (internet based) 79.
Those who pass the English Language subject of our Certificate in Preparatory Studies course will be regarded as meeting the English Language requirements.

Professional Courses - Starts Sept 2010
We offer the following professional Courses of:-

These courses are available by full-time, part-time (evening and weekend studies)
Institute of Financial Accountants, UK
Duration: 1 year for each level
- Financial Accountant Diploma
- Professional Financial Accountant
Entry Requirements
Entrants to the Financial Accountant Diploma should ideally possess:
- Level 3 (i.e. A/Level or OND) or equivalent qualification in a finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics or numerate discipline, and English language skills that allow them to express themselves in exam conditions
- Alternative Entry Requirements for this Course
Those who do not meet the above entry requirements will be accepted on the course if they successfully complete the following access certificate course that is offered by the British Education Network:-
- Certificate in Access to Higher Education in Business and Management - (1 year)
This Access Certificate course is available to people who have completed secondary education at GCSE O/Level standard.
Associate
Students who successfully complete the Professional Financial Accountant course can be elected to become an Associate of the Institute of Financial Accountants with the title AFA after their names
Top-Up Honours Degree in Accounting
Students who successfully complete the Professional Financial Accountant programme can embark on a 1 year Top-Up honours degree in Accounting at the following universities:-
- BA (Hons) in Accounting – University of Bolton
- BA (Hons) in International Accounting – University of Northampton (also available by distance learning)
Forth Coming Course: Institute of Credit Management, UK
Duration: 1 year for each level
- Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management
- Level 5 Diploma in Credit Management
Entry Requirements
You must meet one of the requirements below:-
- Passes at G.C.S.E. ‘A’ Level or equivalent standard; or
- Completed a recognised/accredited certificate or diploma course in any field; or
- Completed our Certificate in Access to Higher Education in Business and Management course; or
- Not meeting the requirements above, but you have worked in a related field for 5 years or more. The applicant must have completed secondary education (this is at the discretion of the College); or
- Not met the requirements above, but you are at least 25 years of age. The applicant must have completed secondary education (this is at the discretion of the College); and
- Every applicant must meet the English Language requirements
Duration
The duration for each stage of the course is estimated to be a minimum of 1 year study. Therefore, a minimum period of 2 years is required for the entire course.
Associate Membership
Students who successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma will be elected to the Membership grade of ASSOCIATE of the institute, with the right to use the title AICM after their names.
Graduate Membership
Students who successfully complete the Level 5 Diploma will be elected to the Membership grade of GRADUATE of the institute, with the right to use the title MICM (Grad) after their names.
Top-Up Honours degree in Business Studies with Credit Management
Students who successfully complete the Level 5 – Diploma course can embark on a:-
- BA (Hons) degree course in Business Studies with Credit Management - Thames Valley University, London (1 year)
Progression to MBA courses
Students who complete the Level 5 – Diploma and who also has experience at management level, can also enrol directly onto MBA programme at various UK universities.

Entry Requirements for Certificate Courses
The minimum age for registration for the programmes is 18. Applicants should note that the following entrance qualifications are recommended for those wishing to undertake this programme:-
- Five GCSEs O/Level at grades A, B or C (including Maths and English); or
- The ICM Business Studies Group Certificate; or
- One GCE/A-level; or
- A suitable BTEC National Award or GNVQ Advanced ; or
- Any qualifications equivalent to one of the above
Entry Requirements for Diploma Courses
Students for the diploma courses should hold:-
- One GCE A-level plus Three GCSEs (or equivalents);
- A suitable BTEC National Award; or
- An OND level qualification; or
- Any qualification equivalent to one or more of the above.
The minimum age for registration for this programme is 18.
Applicants over the age of 20 who do not hold one of the recommended entrance qualifications may also register for the programme providing they have been in full-time employment for a minimum of two years.
Entry Requirements for Advanced Diploma Courses
Applicants should note that the following entrance qualifications are recommended for those wishing to undertake the advanced diploma programmes:-
- The ICM Diploma in Business Studies at Grades A, B or C (or an equivalent level qualification)
- A first degree
- A Higher National Diploma in Business Studies.
Applicants over the age of 21 who do not hold one of the required entrance qualifications may register for the programme providing they have been in full-time employment for a minimum of three years and hold a senior supervisory or managerial position.
Progression Arrangements at UK Universities for ICM Graduates
Students who successfully complete the courses of the Institute of Commercial Management has progression route to further education at the following UK universities:-

Forth Coming Course: Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management
Duration: 1 year
This course is run in conjunction with Trans-Atlantic College, London. The postgraduate diploma is awarded by the Association of Business Practitioners. UK.
Those who complete this postgraduate diploma course will only need to complete research methods subject and write a dissertation to complete a masters degree in management at Anglia Ruskin University, England (and many other Universities)
Entry Requirements
Applicants should:-
- Hold a recognised degree in any subject area; or
- Hold an appropriate recognised equivalent professional qualification; or
- Hold an HND level qualification and he/she is 25 years or over
- Hold a qualification lower than the ones above, but have at least 4 years appropriate management experience; or
- Hold no formal qualifications, but have at least 8 years appropriate management experience; plus
- Meet the English Language requirements below.
English Language Requirements
You must show competence in spoken and written English, in addition to meeting the entry requirements above. The minimum English Language requirement is GCSC O/Level.
Forth Coming Course: Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism
Duration: 1 year (full-time)
This course is delivered in conjunction with the Cofederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) , UK. The CTH is an awarding body that is recognised by the Government of the United Kingdom.
This course is recognised by the University of Sunderland. Therefore, students who successfully complete the course, will only need to wtite a dissertation to complete the MSc degree in Tourism and Hospitality at the University of Sunderland. Students can write their dissertation from any part of the world. Thus, once you enrol on this course, it is as good as been enrolled on the University of Sunderland MSc programme.
Entry Requirements
Students should satisfy either of the following minimum entry requirements:-
- Minimum of a recognised university degree in any subject; or
- A qualification slightly lower than a first degree may be accepted. However, in this case, applicants should have at least 3 years work experience at supervisory or managerial level in the tourism and hospitality industry; and
- At least IELT 6.0 or other evidence of competence in English Language at this level.
